Fishers Health Department Teen Public Health Academy
The Fishers Health Department Teen Public Health Academy is a free, one-week interactive experience for incoming 9th to 12th graders.
Interested students will learn about public health career professions, public health at a local health department level, and how they protect and promote health and well-being of residents. Space is limited and preference is given to Fishers residents.
Opportunities Include:
- Meet City and Public Health Leaders and learn from public health staff
- Visit Indiana Department of Health Laboratory
- Experience hands-on activities and trainings (e.g., Naloxone administration), sample mosquito populations for West Nile Virus and test public water sources for contaminants (e.g., Geist Reservoir, White River)
- Conduct scenario-based table-top exercises on a variety of public health topics (e.g., emergency preparedness, communicable disease investigations and surveillance).
- Develop a health education outreach activity
Public Health Academy Structure
- 2024 Academy: July 15-20, 8:30am-1:30pm
- Students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from the site. Transportation during academy activities will be provided.

Mental Health First Aid Training
