The Fishers Health Department and Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services have partnered on the Fall Prevention Program to reduce the number of emergency calls received due to accidental falls and provide free resources to residents.

Did you know?

  • Falls are the #1 cause of 9-1-1 calls in Fishers
  • The Fishers Fire Department responds to around 1,200 falls each year (20% of ambulance transports), many of which are preventable
  • Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injury in adults 65 and older
  • One in four older adults report falling each year

Residents with mobility issues can apply to the Fall Prevention Program to receive free support which includes home visits, fall prevention education, assistance with necessary in-home modifications, and referrals to community partners as needed in partnership with Fishers Health Department’s Social Worker, Community Health Advocates and Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Free services include:

  • Personalized home safety assessments
  • Practical fall prevention tips
  • Free tools like nightlights, pill organizers, and grabbers
  • Connections to trusted local resources
