The Fishers Health Department is one of the few in Indiana enrolled in the FDA’s Retail Program Standards program, which ensures inspections focus on areas with the highest impact on foodborne illness prevention. This shifts the focus by making the department a public health program with a regulatory component rather than a regulatory program with a public health component.
Apply for a permit for a food facility, Farmers’ Market vendor, Home-Based vendor, or Mobile Food vendor. All food vendors within the City of Fishers must obtain and display an active permit issued by the Fishers Health Department.
The FDA provides timely updates on food recalls, safety alerts, and public health notifications to help you stay aware of potential foodborne hazards. For comprehensive and current information, visit the FDA’s Food Safety Alerts page to find detailed alerts and advice on how to handle affected products.
Food Safety Alert: Shrimp and Cheese Recalls – Do Not Consume
⚠️Frozen Raw Shrimp Recall The FDA reports that Direct Source Seafood LLC is recalling about 83,800 bags of frozen raw shrimp sold under the Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brands because the products may have been exposed to low levels of cesium-137, a radioactive substance, due to unsanitary handling conditions. Consumers should not eat these products. If you have them, discard them immediately. No illnesses have been reported to date.
⚠️ Cheese Recall Due to Listeria Risk The Ambriola Company has issued a recall for select cheese products, including cheeses sold under Ambriola, Locatelli, Member’s Mark, Pinna, and Boar’s Head brand names, after routine testing found Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious illness, especially in young children, older adults, pregnant people, and those with weakened immune systems. Do not eat the recalled cheeses. If you have them, discard them immediately.
What You Should Do:
Check your home for these products.
Do not consume recalled shrimp or cheese.
Return or dispose of affected items.
Contact your retailer or the manufacturer for refunds or more information.

Permits are available in a variety of time increments for convenience and reduction of cost to the vendor. Temporary events may include city celebrations, fairs, and festivals.
